David Studwell is a contemporary artist whose work explores the traditional print-making processes and cultures of the twentieth century. Taking photographic images of some of the century's greatest icons and celebrities - from Al Capone to Brigitte Bardot - Studwell revitalises them with washes of retro colour, for a distinctly Pop-Art feel. 'Marilyn Monroe - Pink' depicts a greyscale photograph of the eponymous Hollywood starlet, colourised with a soft, retro shade of silver Artfully applied, the washed out tones are reminiscent of the 1950s cinema of Monroe's day: breathtakingly beautiful and vividly compelling.
